Coming up at McDonald Theatre is Henry Rollins, ex-Black Flag member, who tours his "Spoken Word" show on the international stage. Over the years and after Flag, Rollins has continued to put himself out there with the Rollins Band, been in a good dozen movie appearances and has written another dozen books. See Thursday, March 6 Calendar.

As a protest against war in Iraq, Eugene joins a worldwide reading of Lysistrata. The play, written by Aristophanes in 411 BC, tells about women who seek to end the Peloponnesian war by withholding sex from their mates. Proceeds benefit WAND (Women's Actions for New Directions) and CALC (Community Alliance of Lane County). Local peformances at Foolscap Books and McDonald Theatre. See Monday Calendar.

Poet Jack Gilbert reads at the UO Knight Library Browsing Room. Gilbert has established himself as one of the strongest and most important voices in American poetry, fiercely singular and outside all schools, camps and literary movements. His collections include Views of Jeopardy (1962), Monolithos (1982), and The Great Fires (Knopf, 1995). See Tuesday Calendar.

An opening for the ninth biennial exhibit of Oregon Made for Interiors, a showcase of high quality, functional furniture and other home furnishings by 19 Oregon artists takes place at Maude Kerns Art Center. The exhibit includes sleek wood furniture, objects made from recycled or found materials and driftwood constructions. Here's Cherry Rocker by Jim McKee. See Friday Calendar.

It's probably been awhile since you've been to any interactive Norse rituals, so if you've a hankering even Thor's hammer couldn't beat, if you need a little dash of Odin's fix, try the Trial of Loki benefit for FOOD for Lane County at the McDonald Theatre. There you'll find the lives of mythic gods played out on stage, as well as fire dancing, African music and dance, tunes with Bindass and even the Sugar Beets. Look out for thunderbolts. See Thursday, Feb. 27 Calendar.

Cherry Poppin' Daddies are back at the McDonald Theatre, touring in support of their new album, Soul Caddy. The Daddies' website claims the album "contains all the thrill and hope of a night on the town, as well as the introspective walk home alone." See Saturday Calendar.
