Café Paradiso welcomes Guy Davis, known throughout the country as a talented and charismatic bluesman. Pulse magazine said Davis is "One of the handful of young blues singers keeping the acoustic tradition vital," combining "gravelly vocals, soulful down-home sensibilities and impressive guitar skills." VISUAL ARTS
White Lotus Gallery features mixed-media fiber-art by Nancy Pobanz, through Feb. 15. Pobanz uses all natural materials and creates colors from plants and soil. Here's her Puzzled Out, created with Oregon desert pigment on canvas, graphite, handmade felt (Willamette Valley wool,) red cedar bark paper and linen in a box painted with Villard St. soil pigment. MUSIC
Much-missed former Eugene Opera music director Francis Graffeo returns to Eugene to conduct the Oregon Mozart Players' Candlelight Concert Jan. 10 and 11 at the First United Methodist Church. The concert features New York sopranos Andrea Garritano and Szilvia Schranz as well as Eugene tenor Al Villanueva in music from Mozart's The Impresario and short works from operas by Puccini, Rossini, Offenbach, and Strauss.
