CELEBRATION

Alice DiMicele learned to sing while walking her dog as a little girl, and when given her first Stevie Wonder album at the age of 12, she learned every note, every nuance. From choir in high school to learning her first song on guitar, Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain," at the age of 17, DiMicele's devoted her life to singing and playing as much "groove-funk" and "acoustic-soul" as possible. Catch a few aural hours of her life's work at Sam Bond's Garage. See Friday Calendar.

GATHERING
First Friday Artwalk is a free guided tour of downtown art galleries and visual arts attractions. This week the walk begins at 5:30 pm at the new Eugene Public Library, focusing on the life-size bronze of Eugene F. Skinner by James Carpenter. At 5:50 pm the walk moves to New Frontier Broadway Market for photography by Shirley Cross. At 6:10 pm it's silk paintings by Meredith Ferrell at Circle of Hands: Inner Circle Gallery. The last stop, at 6:30 pm, features Italian ceramics and glass art at Perugino Coffee House. Here's Golden Flight by Meredith Ferrell. See Friday Calendar.

MUSIC
Darryl Purpose plays at a unique musical event at Brooks Auto Doctor in Goshen. Darryl's distinctive baritone vocals mix with the finger-picking proficiency that earned him an endorsement with Taylor Guitars. Amongst cans of motor oil and wrenches of all sizes, listen to Purpose's dramatic delivery, featuring musical stories of his activities as peace activist, professional gambler and modern troubadour. See Friday Calendar.
