GATHERING
The year's Holiday Market is coming to a close with a four-day run at the Lane County Fairgrounds. Local folk-favorite Mare Wakefield returns from the Berklee School of Music to celebrate her hometown holidays with a performance on Dec. 23. Also featured will be Roger Fountain; David Rogers; Sweet River; Danziger Schwall String Band and Adam & Kris. Succeed at your holiday shopping while supporting local artists. See Saturday Calendar.

DANCE
The Eugene Ballet brings five performances of the holiday dance classic, The Nutcracker, to the Hult Center's Silva Hall. Toni Pimble's adaptation features colorful new sets, costumes and choreography. Eugene dance-goers will enjoy major revisions of effects and storyline, the interpretation of Clara, played by Stephanie Parker, and participation by youth dancers from around Oregon, the Eugene Opera Orchestra and the Nutcracker's Children's Chorus. See Friday Calendar.

MUSIC
Ken Peplowski and the Emerald City Jazz Kings play a holiday tribute concert titled "The Big Band Music of Benny Goodman" at The Shedd concert hall. Peplowski's known nationally as one of the few clarinetists who can fill the void left by Benny Goodman, the legendary king of swing. See Saturday Calendar.
