benefit: Another family event is the 4th Annual July 4th Fund-raiser and Fireworks Show at Dexter Lake Park. Along the waterside you'll find children riding ponies, their faces all painted — the children's, that is, not the ponies. They'll be playing games and doing crafts as well, alongside booths of artisan affairs and food delights. Music's lined up all day, including an evening show by Elizabeth Cable. All proceeds benefit the Dexter Library. See Thursday, July 4 Calendar.

music: Thomas Quasthoff and Jeffrey Kahane shine in an Oregon Bach Festival concert along with the Festival Orchestra at the Hult's Silva Hall. The night promises Bach's solo cantata Ich Have Genug as well as operatic arias from Mozart, such as Alcandro, lo confesso and Rivolgete a lui lo sguardo. The festival itself is action packed, featuring work by Tan Dun, composer of the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon score. See Friday Calendar.

festival: Nokie's Music Festival returns to Fern Ridge Reservoir with a plethora of summertime diversions. International and national musical acts, including Nokie Edwards himself, as well as The Fabulous Wailers and X-Factor, along with many others take the stage in this annual two-day bash. Included are classic car and motorcycle shows, raffles, children's activities and prize giveaways, foods, crafts, vendors and of course fireworks. See Thursday, July 4 Calendar.
