lecture: Greg Palast is an award-winning BBC investigative reporter and author of The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, a New York Times best-selling book that compiles Palast's articles for the BBC and London Observer. Described as a cross between Sherlock Holmes and David Spade, Palast speaks at the McDonald Theatre at an evening hosted by KLCC's Alan Siporin. See Wednesday Calendar.

music: Kelly Thibedeux's Cajun group Etouffee, and Bill Willie Bluz open up for Merle Haggard at the Lone Star Bar and Grill. At the age of 63, Haggard holds a whopping 39 #1 country hits, as well as other awards aplenty. Say medical science improves and Haggard makes it to the golden age of 1,230 years old, that'd be close to a thousand #1 country hits he'd have. Are there any other buckaroos who could boast that? See Thursday, June 13 Calendar.

dance: Dance, the Next Generation … Our Hope is in Youth is the title of Musical Feet's 24th annual student dance performance at the Hult. 137 dancers will perform tap, jazz, hip hop and classical ballet. My Hope is In You, by the acclaimed musician Youssou N'Dour, is the theme song for the two shows, thus the music should be easy on your ears. Saturday's sold out, so you better streak for Sunday seats. See Saturday and Sunday Calendar.
