music: What's one way to help the children of Africa? Collect a group of talented children from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria and Ghana, many of them from poor backgrounds or orphans, and take them on world tours to share their music and heritage. Send the money home to start schools in even the remotest, most conflict-ridden areas of the continent, providing food, shelter, education and love. Then recruit even more children from those schools to tour. That's the African Children's Choir. They perform with the Oregon Children's Choir at Springfield and Churchill high schools. See Wednesday Calendar.

dance: Touch, a dance concert at LCC, is a display of improvisation and choreography incorporating the skills of Lane music, dance and theater students with the skills of community artists. Playing God by Nita Little Nelson will be featured among other pieces dealing with evolution, responsiveness, communication and relationship. See Thursday, Feb. 14 Calendar.

music: The Turtle Island String Quartet and Paquito D'Rivera play hot Latin jazz, bringing together fans of Latin jazz and chamber music at the Hult. Founded in 1986, Turtle Island distinguished itself by its fusion of the classical string quartet with 20th Century American popular styles, and by its cool name. See Sunday Calendar
