The nine young women, including four veterans and five debut performers, have worked with Aronson to create the original show, Lumina: A Theatre Piece About Life. YWTC is unique because of its cast and original performances. By performing pieces from the players' lives and personal experiences, the troupe performs theater that is introspective and urges self-exploration and raw truth. The troupe shows off their new work at the WOW Hall. See Friday. music:If you're looking for more proof that Eugene is, in fact, the center of the universe, just look to all the world premieres that happen here -- Robert Kyr's The Spirit of Time, Leon Johnson's Faust/Faustus and now Eugene composer Tom Manoff's Honour Is So Sublime. Manoff, well-known as a classical music critic for National Public Radio's "All Things Considered," has composed a setting of one of John Donne's letters that was addressed to the Countess of Bedford. Equally as impressive, soprano Lucy Shelton (left) and mezzo-soprano Milagro Vargas (right) perform the piece as part of a Chamber Music Series concert at UO. The two internationally acclaimed soloists will present a program of vocal duets. See Tuesday. film:Whether you were there or not, the 1999 anti-World Trade Organization protests in Seattle sparked an awareness of international issues and an urge to act among people and grassroots organizations as diverse as environmental activists and church groups. The protests also sparked the making of several activist documentaries. The Progressive Lane Activist Network and Alliance for Democracy sponsor a showing of one of the most important of these documentaries, This is What Democracy Looks Like. Featuring voice-overs by Susan Sarandon and Spearhead's Michael Franti, the film chronicles the events of the week with you-are-there footage shot by more than 100 media activists.
